This is the same as our standard Long Haul 40, but the main body is made out of either VX21 or X42 fabric, which makes the pack much more durable.
This is a great mid-size pack for ultralight loads, suitable for anything from a thru-hike to weekend trips with friends. This pack has 40 liters of internal volume, and about 10 liters of external volume making for a total of 50L when the pack is filled to the brim inside and out.
This version of the 40l pack comes with a fully padded/sewn-in hip belt and a full frame system making it capable of carrying loads of up to 40lbs comfortably. The frame consists of two removable aluminum stays and a foam back pad. The padded hip belt is sewn-in which provides great load transfer to your hips.
All of our packs have the same S-shaped shoulder straps which work great for both men and women. Our shoulder straps are about 2.75" wide and are made using high quality 1/2" foam, 1/8'' spacer mesh, and a 400D diamond grid ripstop Nylon material. This makes for a very comfortable 5/8" thick shoulder strap. Our shoulder straps and hip belt wings are both reinforced for extended life.
This pack is constructed out of very durable materials. You can pick from either VX21, or X42. The VX21 is a great option for thru-hiking, or if you just want your pack to last a bit longer and aren't worried about a few extra oz.
The X42 has a rugged 420 denier face fabric, which makes the fabric very durable. This would be a good option for regular bush wacking or any other application where your pack will take a lot of abuse. The X42 fabric is a bit different than the other x-pac fabrics that we use in that it does not have an inner scrim fabric. It will be green on the inside of the pack. The X42 fabric will add about 3oz to the estimated weight of this pack.
We also have a variety of additional features to add to your pack. They can be found here: Backpack Custom Options and Accessories.
This pack is big enough to fit a large bear canister inside vertically.

While our packs are highly waterproof, they are not seam sealed, so the use of a pack line/waterproof stuff sacks is recommended. We recommend using a trash compactor bag, as they are cheap and very durable.
